"The Personal MBA" is a non-fiction practical expository work written by Josh Kaufman. It was first published in 2010.

The book teachs fundamentals of sound business via widely applicable mental models. It is split into three broad categories:

  • Business: ch. 1 - 5
  • Phychology: ch. 6 - 8
  • Systems: ch. 9 - 11

The authors value proposition is mainly in having sifted through thousands of business books and periodicals, filtering out the crap. His aim is to provide better value than an MBA at an incomparably low cost.

The Art of Reading:
the process whereby a mind, with nothing to operate on but the symbols of the readable matter, and with no help from outside, elevates itself by the power of its own operations. The mind passes from understanding less to understanding more. The skilled operations that cause this to happen are the various acts that constitute the art of reading. (pg. 8)
